Your Named Deafblind UK Contact - Hayley Headington
Hi, I'm Hayley Headington. I am a Counsellor and have been part of the Wellbeing and Emotional Support service we offer at Deafblind UK.
Counselling offers an opportunity to talk through feelings, emotions and any issues that are affecting a person.
Counselling is offered to our members , their carers and our volunteers.
Counselling is offered over 10 sessions for 50 minutes per session. The sessions are delivered in the format that meets the needs or wants of those wanting counselling. These include- telephone, video call (can be with a BSL interpreter), email or text. Counselling can be extended to a maximum of 20 sessions if appropriate and more sessions can start after a 6 month break.
There are some feelings that are often associated with dual sensory loss these may include a sense of loss, loneliness, isolation, sadness, anger, anxiety and depression. Talking this through with a Counsellor can help with acceptance and looking toward the future in a positive way.
Other issues can be discussed through Counselling - these may include bereavement, relationship issues, stress, trauma and abuse. As the Counselling is person-centred the subject matter is led by the person receiving Counselling.
If you feel you would benefit from Counselling, or know of any of our members or carers who would, then please feel free to get in touch.
